Buenos Aires!

¡Hola! I decided to get this blog that I had never posted on up and going. I am in Buenos Aires! For those of you that don't know, last Sunday I finally booked a ticket to Buenos Aires to visit Dan (after lots of decision making difficulties). I'm here for a week, and yes I am skipping school. I talked to all my professors ahead of time, though, and skipping school does definitely not mean skipping out on the work (unfortunately).

I left from Baltimore yesterday around 2:45, stopped in Atlanta, and then took an over night 10 hour flight to Buenos Aires. It wasn't too bad, but I didn't sleep more than about 20 minutes, and other than the kind of nap I just took, I still haven't really slept since around 9 am yesterday. On the plane I sat next to a pretty awesome kid (probably like 18ish) named Gidion (it's pronounce with difficult Dutch tones), who is from Holland. He was really cool and he might come hang out with us this week. I was pretty proud of making a friend before I got here.

When we arrived Gidion and I departed to customs and everything together, and then parted ways and I went to get money/rent a phone/find a cab. I managed to do all of this without getting ripped off or into any kind of trouble. The taxi took me to Dan's apartment where he was waiting. It is SO good to be here. It's not at all what I expected (I guess there is more poverty than I expected...I don't know why I didn't expect that though), but it's just really nice to be with Dan. We settled into the hostel that is above the bar Dan works at. It's pretty interesting...I really like it so far (except for the locks are old and we accidentally locked ourselves into my room for like 25 minutes while messing with it). After settling in we went and met his host family for lunch at their apartment. It's nice, and so are they, but my Spanish has gotten so bad. We have started having Spanish lessons while walking around, so hopefully I'll be in good shape by Tuesday or so.

Other than that, we walked to this amazing old cemetery and looked at some shops. Then FINALLY took a nap. Tonight Dan has to work, but the pretty great thing is that I don't have to worry because I can hang out as long as I want and then go upstairs to bed. Tomorrow night there is a tango class that we are probably going to go too.

I miss you all!
